247 - The government's delay in finalizing the purchase of 36 fighter jets and the strong competition from the French Rafale have led the United States to improve its offer to sell its Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet fighters to Brazil. According to information from Claudio Hulberto, a source in the Air Force said that the Americans are willing to include, without additional costs, a brand-new Boeing 747-800 for the use of President Dilma.

Commonly known as a "Jumbo Jet," it is similar to the "Air Force One" used by the American president.

According to the columnist, the Boeing 747-800 flies at 913 km/h and has a range of 14.815 km, more than the distance between Brasília and Sydney (Australia), which is 14.127 km.

To replace the Brazilian Air Force's fleet in 2016, a project costing US$10 billion, other contenders include the Rafale from the French company Dassault and the Gripen NG from the Swedish company Saab.
