Caroline De Toni's debut at CCJ will discuss proposals from Zambelli, Kataguiri and Pastor Gil
The first meeting of the new president of the main committee of the Chamber will assess bills to increase penalties under the Penal Code.
247 - The first meeting of Bolsonaro supporter Caroline De Toni as President of the Constitution and Justice Committee of the Chamber of Deputies It is scheduled for this Tuesday (12). On the agenda are topics such as the hardening of penalties for crimes such as drug trafficking and fraud, informs Veja magazine.
Three projects will be discussed. One authored by Kim Kataguiri (União-SP), former MBL member, and two others by Caroline's fellow Bolsonaro supporters in the PL: Representative Pastor Gil (MA) and Representative Carla Zambelli (SP).
In Kataguiri's case, bill number 986/2019 amends the Penal Code, providing for harsher prison sentences for repeat offenders in drug trafficking, heinous crimes, and crimes against life. Those convicted three or more times will face a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison.
The text proposed by Pastor Gil suggests increasing the penalty for those convicted of defrauding vulnerable victims (children, adolescents, the elderly, people with disabilities, or citizens with low levels of education). The last item on the agenda, proposed by Zambelli, foresees the creation of an aggravating circumstance for the crime of fraud when committed "for the purpose of financing sexual exploitation, violence against women, children or adolescents, or human trafficking."
Zambelli's proposal also seeks to broaden the criteria for fraud victims considered "vulnerable" to include refugees, political asylum seekers, or people affected by public calamities.
