Erundina wants a "healthy distance" from Marina.

247 - Maintaining a healthy distance is one of the premises of the relationship between presidential candidate Marina Silva (PSB) and her campaign coordinator, congresswoman Luiza Erundina (PSB-SP). This distance is not the result of disagreements or anything similar, but is due to completely different positions that have a strong impact on voters. Among the ideological differences are, for example, support for causes related to the LGBT community, revision of the Amnesty Law, and greater democratization of the media.

While Erundina championed these causes during her fourth parliamentary term, Marina tries to avoid taking a stance to avoid confrontation with a segment of the electorate that opposes these ideals. Recently, Marina backtracked on several issues that were in her government program, such as gay marriage and the criminalization of homophobia. Erundina, however, avoids commenting on the subject in order to avoid a direct confrontation with the leading candidate and potentially damaging the image of both.

According to the newspaper Estado de São Paulo, Erundina has also avoided participating in campaign events where Marina is present. Regarding this matter, Erundina has stated that she has been dedicated to her reelection campaign for the Federal Chamber of Deputies.
