According to the column DashboardAccording to Folha, the reason the chancellor was disinvited was a request made by the Minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Luís Roberto Barroso, who will be honored with a medal for strengthening relations between Brazil and Israel.
Upon learning that Araújo was on the guest list, Barroso requested that the event have no political connotation.
The Israeli embassy informed the column that "the goal was to hold an event with ministers and authorities, but in order to respect security restrictions and social distancing during the Covid-19 period, we opted to present the medal in a more private manner."
