247 - The plea bargain agreement of Emílio Odebrecht, patriarch of the family's construction company, stipulates four years of house arrest. According to the document, he will serve the first two years under house arrest in a semi-open regime, where he can work during the day and must return home at night. The remaining two years will be in an open regime, where he must be home on weekends. Emílio will wear an electronic ankle monitor during this period.

"The sentence of the owner of Odebrecht will not be served immediately. For a period exceeding one year he will remain free, but with the responsibility of acting as a kind of "guarantor" for the agreements made between the company and Lava Jato."

Emílio Odebrecht will ensure that the anti-corruption guidelines agreed upon with the investigators are actually implemented.

He will also oversee the leadership transition within Odebrecht, a consequence of the removal of employees who participated in the plea bargain.

According to Odebrecht sources who asked not to be identified, after Lava Jato discovered that the company had a department dedicated to accounting for bribes, Emílio approached members of the task force with a proposal to deliver to the prosecutors what he called the company's "definitive collaboration." That was last March.
