In 2 days, petition to remove Damares from office surpasses 600 signatures.
The petition went viral after celebrities and public figures, such as Xuxa, shared the link on social media; the current goal is to reach 1 million signatories.
Capital Letter - Former Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights, Damares Alves, has become the target of an online petition calling for her removal from office before she takes office. With over 700 votes, Damares was elected senator for the Federal District.
The petition, which continues to grow on the platform Change.org, was created as a result of the repercussions of the former minister's statements about children trafficked on Marajó Island, during a religious service, on the 8th of last month.
The petition was launched this Tuesday (11) and, by Thursday afternoon, had already surpassed the mark of 600 thousand signatures. The petition, authored by Maria Christina Mendes Caldeira, a user of the platform, claims that Damares lied or prevaricated in her capacity as minister. “Both are very serious facts for a public servant and deserve immediate dismissal by popular action before taking office,” argues the author in the text of the online petition.
