'Voters cannot be coerced, threatened, or induced,' says Moraes 10 days before the elections.

According to the president of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), threats against voters or anyone in the artistic community "will be investigated, and the Electoral Court will ensure that those responsible are held accountable for this act."

Reuters - Ten days before the first round of elections, the president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Alexandre de Moraes, stated that voters cannot be coerced, threatened, or induced, emphasizing that any such threat will be investigated.

Moraes' comment came at the end of a session to judge cases at the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) after Minister Cármen Lúcia expressed concern about threats that artists have been receiving for publicly expressing their political preferences.

The president of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) said that the "cowardly digital militias" no longer enjoy the peaceful and secure anonymity of years past, and listed a series of actions that the Judiciary, and the Electoral Court in particular, have adopted to confront this type of situation, such as meetings with state police chiefs and representatives of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

"I want to reiterate and guarantee here—not only to the artistic community, but to all of Brazilian society—that not only in these ten days remaining until the first round of elections, but on election day itself, we will have peaceful and safe elections," he said.

"Precisely to guarantee the most important aspect of the elections, the security of the voter so they can choose their candidates with absolute freedom. So that the voter cannot be coerced, the voter cannot be threatened, the voter cannot be misled," he emphasized.

According to Moraes, threats against voters or members of the artistic community "will be investigated, and the Electoral Court will hold those responsible accountable for this act."
