247 - Federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) once again attacked Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), whom he called a "crazy judge" in an interview with the American channel Real America's Voice. This information comes from... Metropolis.

In the interview, Eduardo accused Moraes of persecuting his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro, and argued that the house arrest imposed on him represented an unfolding of the political tensions between Brazil and the United States. The congressman, who has been in the US since February 2025, also praised the current American president, Donald Trump, whom he described as "the greatest leader of all time in humanity."

Criticisms and defense of amnesty

Eduardo Bolsonaro declared that the country is going through an "institutional crisis" and that the only way out would be the approval of the amnesty bill currently being processed in Congress. The proposal provides for pardons for those investigated for the coup attempts of January 8, 2023.

"It is necessary to approve the bill not only to free Jair Bolsonaro, but also to allow him to return to Brazil and guarantee the broad participation of the opposition in the 2026 elections," the congressman stated. The trial regarding the amnesty is scheduled for September 2nd, and the former president would be one of the main beneficiaries if the measure moves forward.

Relationship with the United States

During the interview, Eduardo also commented on the 50% tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on Brazilian exports. According to him, the measures were not economic in nature, but political. The congressman stated that by ordering Jair Bolsonaro's house arrest following the American sanctions, Moraes had "doubled down on his stance against Trump."

Eduardo also defended the application of the Magnitsky Act against Moraes, arguing that it is a direct response from Trump to the minister's decisions. He suggested that another Supreme Court justice, Flávio Dino, could also be subject to sanctions for conditioning the application of international norms on the approval of the Brazilian court.

Financial impacts

Commenting on potential economic repercussions, Eduardo Bolsonaro pointed out that Dino's decision could create difficulties for the banking system. According to him, financial institutions would have to choose between following the rulings of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) or the United States government.

"They [the banks] have to follow the Magnitsky Act, because otherwise they will go bankrupt. You can't survive without access to the largest financial market in the world, which is in the US," the congressman declared.
