247 - The actions of Congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), who is currently on leave from his position, have caused increasing unease among leaders of the Liberal Party (PL). According to a report by... g1Party leaders believe that the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro has contributed to the worsening crisis faced by the Brazilian right wing after the announcement of tariffs against Brazil by US President Donald Trump.

Behind the scenes at the PL party, the diagnosis is straightforward: Eduardo is "uncontrollable," doesn't listen to anyone within the party, and hasn't contributed any proposals to resolve the crisis. The assessment is that his stance, instead of helping, has deepened internal divisions and damaged the image of the right wing at a delicate moment.

When confronted by party colleagues about the negative impact of his actions, Eduardo has insisted that he did not request the tariff increase, and that his intention was to invoke the Magnitsky Act against Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court (STF). This American law allows the United States to impose sanctions on foreign citizens accused of serious human rights violations or systemic corruption.

Even with this argument, PL leaders believe that Eduardo has not yet been clear enough in distancing himself from the measure announced by Trump. Internally, parliamentarians claim that, since the beginning of the crisis, they have asked the congressman for two specific actions: that he cease his attacks on the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), and that he make it clear that he never requested the tariffs. The first was addressed after direct intervention by former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL); the second, according to sources, remains without a firm response.

Trump's flag causes unease in the party. - Last Tuesday (22), PL parliamentarians raised a flag in support of Donald Trump, which provoked internal criticism.

More pragmatic sectors of the party considered the action disastrous. They assessed that the gesture diverted attention from the dissatisfaction with the decision of the Speaker of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), to suspend committee meetings — a measure taken after attempts to include motions of political support for Jair Bolsonaro on those agendas.

Representatives such as Sergeant Fahur (PSD-PR) and Delegate Caveira (PL-PA), who participated in the event, were warned that individual demonstrations would be more acceptable, but that group actions like that would only exacerbate the crisis and further damage the party's image.
