The owners of Kiss nightclub had a criminal record.
Businessmen Elissandro Spohr and Mauro Hoffmann, owners of the nightclub that caught fire in Santa Maria (RS), have criminal records in Rio Grande do Sul for assault and fraud; both were arrested this Monday, after the tragedy that left 231 dead.
247 – The owners of the Kiss nightclub in Santa Maria, businessmen Elissandro Spohr and Mauro Hoffmann, already had criminal records in Rio Grande do Sul. The two were arrested this Monday, January 28th, after the fire that engulfed the nightclub and left 231 dead in the early hours of Sunday.
The first man was accused of assaulting customers on two occasions inside the nightclub, in addition to being involved in a car accident and receiving a charge of negligent injury. Hoffmann has a record of fraud. Police did not provide further details about the second case, however. The information was published by the newspaper. The Globe.
Spohr's first assault at the nightclub occurred on April 18, 2010. The second, on January 30, 2011. The traffic accident also happened in 2010, according to police records. The fraud case was registered on November 20, 2011. The police reports may or may not become formal investigations, depending on the decision of the authority responsible for the area.
