Bank owner in Panama pays R$ 90,6 million in bail and is released from prison.

Banker Eduardo Plass was released after paying bail of R$ 90,6 million, as set by the judge of the 7th Federal Criminal Court of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Bretas; Plass was arrested last Friday (3) on charges of laundering R$ 90 million for a jewelry store that had former governor Sérgio Cabral – arrested in a spin-off of Lava Jato – as one of its clients.

247 - Banker Eduardo Plass was released after paying bail of R$ 90,6 million, as set by the judge of the 7th Federal Criminal Court of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Bretas. Plass was arrested last Friday (3) on charges of laundering R$ 90 million for a jewelry store that had former governor Sérgio Cabral – arrested in a spin-off of Lava Jato – as one of its clients.

Plass is the former president of Banco Pactual and is the majority shareholder of TAG Bank, based in Panama, and of the asset management firm Opus. He was arrested under a temporary arrest warrant on Friday, which on Tuesday (7) was converted into a preventive arrest warrant.

The banker and two other partners are accused by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) of the crimes of currency evasion and money laundering. According to the MPF, the scheme allegedly moved around US$ 24,3 million between 2009 and 2015.
