Two in ten Brazilians say they witnessed a woman being harassed in the last year, research shows.

Brazil is above the global average, according to research by the Ipsos Institute in partnership with King's College London.

247 - Two in ten Brazilians (21%) said they witnessed an act of sexual harassment against a woman in the last year. The figures were released by the "International Women's Day" survey, conducted by the Ipsos Institute in partnership with the Global Institute for Women's Leadership at King's College London, in 32 countries. Ipsos originated in France but has a presence in dozens of countries, including Brazil. 

Brazil is above the global average of 14%. Thailand led the ranking with 30%, and Japan was last, with 4%. The statistics were published this Monday (6) by column by Monica Bergamo

According to the figures, 36% of Brazilians who responded to the questionnaire said they had heard sexist comments in the last year. The global average was 27%. Chile came in first place (45%) and Japan was again last. 

The online survey was conducted between December 22, 2022, and January 6 of this year. 22,000 people, aged between 16 and 74, were interviewed, of whom 1,000 were Brazilian. The margin of error is 3,5 percentage points.
