Dino assembles task force against violence in schools.
Operation Safe School aims to carry out preventive and repressive actions against attacks in schools throughout the country.
Brazil Agency – The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) began, this Thursday (6), Operation Safe School, with the objective of carrying out preventive and repressive actions against attacks in schools throughout the country. The operation involves the participation of cybercrime police stations from the main Brazilian regions, which will act in line with the ministry's strategies.
According to the National Secretary of Public Security, Tadeu Alencar, the integration between state security forces and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security will be fundamental to confronting this wave of crime in the school environment. "In an issue like this, which moves the country, we have to join hands, combine efforts, we have to gather a great deal of energy because indignation and commotion arise, but so does our responsibility to confront this," stated Alencar.
Public safety authorities are emphasizing the need to expand dialogue with the platforms responsible for social media networks operating in Brazil. According to delegates present at the launch of Operation Safe School, cooperation between all actors involved will be fundamental to preventing and responding to cases of violence in schools, as well as to identifying individuals who incite attacks.
Next Monday (10), a meeting is scheduled with representatives of social networks to align an action protocol. According to public security experts, many young people are recruited by these networks, which have become a kind of “showcase” for extremist groups that promote hate speech.
Another important point is the role of the media in reporting these types of cases. According to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), the recommendations are to not disclose the names of the perpetrators, nor any images, videos, or symbols that identify them, under any circumstances. This measure prevents the so-called "contagion effect," which can trigger other attacks or similar events in a short period and in a nearby geographical area.
Notice
As part of the Ministry of Justice's package of actions to combat violence, the department plans to invest R$ 150 million in supporting school patrols or similar initiatives. The measure, authorized by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will be implemented through a public notice to be released next week. The funds will come from the National Public Security Fund (FNSP) and will be offered to states and municipalities, which have the constitutional authority to conduct visible policing.
