Dilma Rousseff states that the coup was an attack on democratic achievements.
The former president and current president of the BRICS Bank spoke at the 5th National Conference on Policies for Women.
247 - Former President of the Republic and current President of the New Development Bank (NDB), the BRICS Bank, Dilma Rousseff, stated this Monday (29) that the 5th National Conference on Policies for Women is the "living expression" of "participatory democracy".
In her speech via video conference at the event in Brasília-DF, recalling that the opening of the 4th National Conference on Policies for Women in 2016 was her last official act before the coup that removed her from the Presidency, Dilma Rousseff emphasized the 'restoration of hope' promoted by the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
"This reunion has even greater power because we have overcome a period of setbacks, political violence, and attacks on democratic achievements. The opening of the 4th Conference was my last official commitment before the profoundly unjust coup against our democracy. But history has shown that resistance is worthwhile. Today, with President Lula, we have rekindled the thread of hope, and Brazil has once again reaffirmed its sovereignty and the fight for inclusive development. This fight requires the full participation of women," she stated.
