Members of Parliament ask the Supreme Court to investigate Carla Zambelli for a video in which she calls for a coup against Lula.

247 - Brazilian federal deputies Reginaldo Lopes (MG) and Paulo Teixeira (SP), both from the Workers' Party (PT), filed a lawsuit against Bolsonaro-supporting deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) in the Supreme Federal Court (STF) due to a video in which... She is asking the military to stage a coup in Brazil. against the election of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to the Presidency of the Republic. 

In the text of the complaint, sent to the president of the Supreme Federal Court, Minister Rosa Weber, the PT (Workers' Party) deputies request that she be investigated for advocating crime and also point to evidence of crimes of violation of democratic institutions, the electoral process, incitement to a coup d'état, as well as an act of administrative misconduct.

"It is important to emphasize that parliamentary immunity or the constitutional guarantee of freedom of expression cannot serve to shelter the practice of illegal acts, especially when other values ​​dear to the Constitution of the Republic itself are at stake, such as the integrity of the Democratic Rule of Law. It is therefore urgent that the Respondent be held accountable for her criminal, abject, vindictive practices, which are irreconcilable with the spirit that should guide citizens in democratic disputes," highlights an excerpt from the lawsuit. 

The video in which Carla Zambelli incites the military to promote a coup d'état to prevent the inauguration of the president-elect was released on social media on Wednesday (30) by the parliamentarian herself. “On January 1st, four-star generals, will you want to salute a bandit or the Brazilian nation? It is not the time to respond with a letter claiming to be non-partisan. It is time to take a stand. Which side of history will you be on?”, she asks in a part of the video. 

In addition to requesting an investigation against the congresswoman, the lawsuit also calls for the identification and accountability of Bolsonaro-supporting groups that have been promoting hate speech on social media due to their non-acceptance of the election results.
