Allegations against Bolsonaro for attempted coup divide voter opinion, says CNT poll.
Survey indicates that perception of the accusation varies according to political position.
Marina Verenicz, Infomoney - A new opinion poll by the National Transport Confederation (CNT), released this Tuesday (25), shows that the complaint filed by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) against former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and allies for attempted coup d'état divides the opinion of Brazilian voters.
Among respondents who identify with the right-wing political spectrum, 54% believe the accusation is politically motivated, while 25% see a combination of facts and political reasons. Only 12% consider the accusations legitimate.
Among left-leaning voters, 49% see the accusations as based on facts, 26% point to a mix of facts and political motivation, and 18% believe there are only political reasons behind the accusation.
The electorate that identifies as center, center-left, and center-right presented an intermediate perception: 41% believe there is both factual and political motivation behind the accusation, 30% see only political motivation, and 20% consider the accusations legitimate.
The survey was conducted between February 19 and 23, with 2.002 respondents nationwide.
