Mauro Cid's defense team calls Luiz Fux's vote at the Supreme Court "mistaken".

247 - The defense team for Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid described Justice Luiz Fux's vote in the trial involving former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other defendants as "mistaken." In a statement to... MetropolisLawyer Vânia Bitencourt said she did not understand why Cid was charged with the crime of attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, while other defendants did not receive the same charge.

The defense's position comes after Fux's lengthy statement on Wednesday (10), when the minister defended Bolsonaro's acquittal, but asked for Cid's conviction. The vote has already guaranteed a majority in the First Panel of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) for the military officer's conviction. The partial score is 2 to 1 against the defendants.

Vânia Bitencourt reiterated her criticism of the magistrate's position. "We considered Minister Fux's vote to be mistaken. We don't understand how he imputes to Mauro Cid the crime of violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law and not to the other defendants," she said.
