DCM: Years late, Gilmar admits that Lula 'never asked him for anything'.

The Diário do Centro do Mundo (DCM) considers the statement by Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Gilmar Mendes that former President Lula never asked him for any favors to be belated; 'During the Mensalão scandal, Lula was repeatedly accused by the media — especially Veja magazine — of asking Gilmar Mendes to change the date of the 2012 elections. Gilmar never denied anything. Now, in an interview with Blog do Moreno about Temer's ride, he returns, as if unintentionally, to the Lula issue — and years late, exonerates him,' says DCM.

247 - A note from Diário do Centro do Mundo considers the statement by Supreme Federal Court (STF) minister Gilmar Mendes, that former president Lula never asked him for any favors, to be belated.

'During the Mensalão scandal, Lula was repeatedly accused by the media — especially Veja magazine — of asking Gilmar Mendes to change the date of the 2012 elections. Gilmar never denied anything. Now, in an interview with Blog do Moreno about Temer's ride, he returns, almost unintentionally, to the Lula issue — and years late, exonerates him,' says DCM.

The minister admits to meetings with Lula, but clarifies that there was never an exchange of favors. "In Lula's case, I dined with him numerous times at the Alvorada Palace, and our wives always maintained a friendly relationship. But I never offered favors, and Lula never asked me for anything (...)," says Gilmar Mendes.
