247 - The president of the Unified Workers' Central (CUT), Vagner Freitas, assures that the demonstrations scheduled for March 13th will not be pro-Dilma acts. "We are concerned about the government's economic measures. We are against the fiscal adjustment measures, but we are not supporting any kind of coup attempt," he stated in an interview with 'Estado de S. Paulo'.

A group of 15 social movement institutions and labor unions are calling for a protest that promises to paralyze Paulista Avenue in downtown São Paulo.

The group's demands include the repeal of Provisional Measures 664 and 665 issued by President Dilma Rousseff, which restrict access to labor and social security rights, the defense of Petrobras, and progress on the Political Reform.

"To combat corruption among business leaders and politicians, we must carry out political reform and end, once and for all, corporate financing of election campaigns. Democracy must represent the people. It is not up to large companies and corporations to entice candidates and politicians to serve as representatives of their business interests to the detriment of the people's needs," says the manifesto released to the press (read closest).
