247 - Minister Gilmar Mendes met this Wednesday (11) with the president of the Chamber, Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ), who is one of the 34 congressmen who will be investigated for suspected participation in the Petrobras corruption scheme. The meeting, which was not scheduled on the agenda, lasted less than 30 minutes.
Mendes denied having spoken with Cunha about the "big issue," referring to the opening of investigations. "No, the conversation is within the legal process," he stated. The minister affirmed that he went to discuss with the Speaker of the House the attempt to resume important projects that are under discussion in the House, such as abuse of authority.
After Mendes left Cunha's office, the PMDB member received the president of the Senate, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL), and Senator Fernando Collor (PTB-AL), who are also targets in the STF.
This is the second consecutive meeting that Cunha has had with ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF). This Tuesday, before participating in a debate on political reform in the Court, Minister Dias Toffoli also met with the congressman in his office.
