Cruvinel: Fachin, the metamorphosis

"What pressures, what blackmail is Your Excellency subjected to in order to act this way? Why this manipulation of bringing President Lula to the plenary session? And why talk about ineligibility now, if the defense's appeal did not address this issue?", asks journalist Tereza Cruvinel in her column in Jornal do Brasil regarding the change in position of Supreme Court Justice Edson Fachin.

"On the eve of the hearing, Monday night, Fachin had trampled on Lula's defense strategy, referring to the full court a request for release that he knew would be accepted by the Second Panel, where he operates alone, if it were to consider it. With this maneuver, he usurped the panel's jurisdiction," he emphasizes. "Now the Supreme Court is in recess and Lula's case will be left for when Chief Justice Cármen Lúcia decides," he concludes.
