247 - The president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Luís Roberto Barroso, stated this Monday (3) that many of the criticisms of the Judiciary's expenses are unfair or caused by a lack of understanding of the work performed by magistrates.

"We are against all types of abuse, and the National Judicial Inspectorate, led by Minister Mauro Campbell Marques, is vigilant. But it is necessary not to overemphasize criticisms that are often unfair or the result of a misunderstanding of the work of judges," he said during the opening ceremony of the Judicial Year.

Barroso highlighted that, since 2017, the budget of the Judiciary Branch has remained the same, only adjusted for inflation. At the event, the minister also stated that, last year, the Supreme Federal Court returned R$ 406 million to the National Treasury that had not been spent.
