The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Organized Crime is considering investigating the Banco Master case, says the rapporteur.
Senator Alessandro Vieira asserts that the actions linked to Banco Master constitute organized crime and that "the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry is indeed competent to investigate this matter."
247 - The rapporteur of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on Organized Crime in the Senate, Senator Alessandro Vieira (MDB-SE), stated that the committee is working to broaden the scope of the investigations and may include the Banco Master case among the topics analyzed. According to him, the commission is evaluating contracts, links, and financial transactions that may be relevant to the investigation.
In an interview with SBT NewsThe senator stated that the CPI intends to adopt measures such as submitting requests to break the banking, tax, and telephone secrecy of companies and individuals linked to the facts involving the bank and associated contracts.
Expansion of the scope of the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry).
According to Vieira, the intention to extend the investigation does not exclude or interfere with other lines of inquiry conducted by bodies such as the Federal Police (PF) and the Attorney General's Office (PGR). He emphasized, however, the Senate's competence in the legislative phase of the investigations.
"The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry focuses on organized crime. The actions of the group that controlled Banco Master are typical of organized crime, with structure, continuity, and infiltration into public power. Therefore, the CPI is indeed well-suited for this action," the senator stated.
Context of the committee in the Senate
The Organized Crime Parliamentary Inquiry Commission was established to investigate practices such as money laundering, corruption, territorial occupation, and the activities of criminal factions in different states of the country. The commission is chaired by Senator Fabiano Contarato (PT-ES), while Alessandro Vieira was elected rapporteur, responsible for drafting reports and directing the work.
The Banco Master case involves investigations related to contracts and financial transactions that are being analyzed by authorities and have already prompted requests to break confidentiality, in addition to the investigation of possible links with public officials.
Next steps in the investigation
With the end of the parliamentary recess, the expectation is that the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) will move forward with the formal presentation of requests to break confidentiality and discuss the effective inclusion of the Banco Master case in the commission's work plan. The rapporteur also indicated the possibility of summoning witnesses and requesting documents, following the procedure established for parliamentary commissions of inquiry in the Senate.
