247 - Colonel Nivaldo César Restivo of the São Paulo Military Police declined an invitation from the future Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, to join the ministry's team. The announcement that Restivo would head the National Secretariat for Penal Policies generated strong criticism, since the police officer had participated in... Sweep operation at the Carandiru prison complex, shortly after 111 prisoners were killed in 1992.

In a statement issued on the afternoon of this Friday (23), obtained by reporter Marcelo Auler, sent by 247 to Brasília, Restivo informed that he will not accept the invitation due to "family issues of a personal nature". Read below:

'Today, the 23rd, I spoke with Minister Flávio Dino.

I profusely expressed my gratitude for the honor of being invited to be part of your team.

Despite my motivation and enthusiasm to contribute, I needed to consider circumstances that could interfere with good management.

The main one is the impossibility of reconciling the need for exclusive dedication to the important work of promoting Penal Policies with attending to family matters of a personal nature.

Therefore, I reiterate my thanks to Minister Flávio, confident that his preparedness will lead to the success of the essential mission ahead.

CEL PMESP NIVALDO RESTIVO'
