247 - Congress and labor unions still see weaknesses in Provisional Measure 927, which would allow companies to suspend four months of salaries paid to employees during the coronavirus crisis. "When you do something poorly, you just keep repeating the mistake," said the leader of the PSL in the Senate, Major Olímpio (SP).

According to the president of the Senate's CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission), Simone Tebet (MDB-MS), the retreat further damages the already weakened image of the government during the crisis. "This is a government that is lost. It has already damaged the government's image, the credibility of the economic team. It's a stress that, instead of killing the worker in the epidemic, will kill them from heart attacks," she said. The reports were published in... Folha de S.Paulo newspaper

The leader of the Citizenship party in the Senate, Eliziane Gama (MA), stated that she will present an amendment to grant access to the FGTS (Brazilian severance pay fund) to workers who may experience a salary reduction. "While in most countries the State, the government, is seeking to ensure jobs and maintain people's income, here we are seeing the government wanting to protect companies at the expense of workers. This is a disaster," stated Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE).

According to the leader of the PSB party in the Chamber of Deputies, Representative Alessandro Molon (PSB-RJ), the measure also represents "blatant attacks on workers' rights."

The labor unions will insist on the strategy of pressuring Congress to reject the proposal immediately.
