'Confused, desperate and scared', Bolsonaro attacks Lula and Lindbergh reacts: 'you are a defendant'

"His pathetic government was judged at the ballot box, he lost, and he attempted a coup. This is not 'narrative.' The evidence is abundant," he declared.

247 - In a post published this Friday (28), federal deputy Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ), leader of the PT in the Chamber of Deputies, reacted harshly to offensive statements made by Jair Bolsonaro (PL) against President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The parliamentarian accused Bolsonaro of being “confused and desperate” in the face of the judicial siege closing in on him and held him responsible for crimes against democracy. Lindbergh's post responds directly to a series of attacks made by Bolsonaro on social media on Thursday (27).

“His legal situation is insurmountable. He will be arrested!” declared the congressman. “Bolsonaro is confused and desperate. He resorted to a cowardly attack against Lula because he is afraid.” Lindbergh also reiterated Lula's position as an international leader with strong popular support: “Lula is the greatest statesman in the history of this country, respected worldwide, with a lifelong commitment to Brazil and the Brazilian people.”

The Workers' Party leader also criticized Bolsonaro's political trajectory in the National Congress. “You spent decades sleeping in Congress, a 5th-rate congressman. You arrived at the Planalto Palace in the wake of Lava Jato, because Lula was unjustly imprisoned. You campaigned lying, preaching hatred and violence,” he stated. Lindbergh also recalled the coup attempts of January 8, 2023, and held Bolsonaro responsible for planning attacks against authorities. “Your pathetic government was judged at the polls, you lost the election, you attempted a coup with a plan to kill the elected president, the vice-president, and the president of the Electoral Court,” he added.

The response came after Bolsonaro published a text on his profile in an ironic and aggressive tone, dismissing the accusation of a plot to assassinate Lula and other authorities. “Only an imbecile or a scoundrel buys into this talk of an assassination plot. The only person they tried to kill was me,” said the former president, referring to the event in Juiz de Fora in 2018. Bolsonaro also accused the PT (Workers' Party) of spreading what he called a “coup narrative.”

According to Lindbergh, such statements demonstrate Bolsonaro's fear of the investigations against him in the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and the Federal Courts. "This is not 'narrative'. The evidence is abundant, and you are a defendant for the crimes you committed against democracy and the democratic state," the congressman retorted. Finally, the Workers' Party member mocked Bolsonaro's attempts to equate himself with Lula in political relevance: "The Workers' Party has won 5 elections since redemocratization. Any attempt by you to compare yourself to Lula is laughable!"
