247 - Given the government's disastrous handling of the new coronavirus pandemic, with the resignation of two Health Ministers, the so-called Centrão, formed by parties that are in the process of aligning themselves with Jair Bolsonaro, are signaling that they prefer to stay away from leading the ministry.

Website report Congress in Focus[A news outlet specializing in coverage of the National Congress] found that the parties believe that maneuvering to assume the position at this time would do more harm than good.

The same assessment was made by generals who are part of the government regarding the possibility of a military officer taking over the ministry.

The rhetoric against social isolation and the defense of the use of chloroquine, without scientific backing, increased the discomfort of the potential successor in the ministry. This is in addition to the rising number of deaths from the coronavirus.

A member of the PP party close to the party's national president, Senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), believes that this area of the government is "a ticking time bomb."

According to a report by Congresso em Foco, some members of the group are advocating for the current executive secretary, General Eduardo Pazuello, to be chosen, as he is a more balanced candidate than Congressman Osmar Terra (MDB-RS), who is also vying for the position and has contradicted established scientific theories on combating the crisis.
