Under Bolsonaro, the Ministry of Education will use ideological criteria to grant scholarships.

The government of Jair Bolsonaro is studying measures in the Ministry of Education to establish criteria for granting scholarships for postgraduate and doctoral studies abroad. "The ideological criterion will be eliminatory. If you don't pass this one, you won't advance to the next ones," says a passage from the note published by the newspaper O Globo this Sunday (6).

247 - In the first week of the Bolsonaro government, clear signs were given that the country is heading towards fascism. In the campaign that government members call "de-petization," criteria for ideological persecution are being studied in various sectors.

According to a note published in the newspaper O Globo this Sunday (6), new criteria are being studied at the Ministry of Education for granting scholarships for postgraduate and doctoral studies abroad. "The ideological criterion will be eliminatory. If you do not pass this one, you will not advance to the following ones," says a passage from the note.

Despite the information being a real scandal, the newspaper reports without much fanfare that the possibility of suspending some scholarships already granted and with students currently enrolled, using the same criteria, is also being discussed. "The problem is how to do this without breaking contracts," the note points out.

According to university professor and former rector of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), federal deputy Margarida Salomão (PT-MG), the measure demonstrates that "Brazil is no longer for everyone."

"It's only for those who follow the elected government's playbook. Is this uniting the country? No! This is persecution, this is punishing freedom of expression, this is the death of democracy!", she said on her Twitter page.
