247 - To hide the low turnout of protests against social isolation, Bolsonaro supporters changed their strategy for the protests in Brasília this Sunday (17). Instead of a central event, the organizers opted for smaller, scattered events.

According to a report in Folha de S.Paulo, Bolsonaro's supporters admit to the change, but deny that it is due to the dwindling attendance at rallies and the public's rejection of them wherever they go.

"We believe that the attacks on our president are being carried out in a very systematic way. And we realize the importance of the people being in the streets and showing that they are with our president," says retired military officer Winston Lima, from the Brazil Movement, one of the organizers of the demonstrations.

He admits that the number of people at the events may be lower, but argues that this is also because many people are not getting out of their cars due to the coronavirus.

This Sunday in Brasília, the program begins with a motorcade, followed by a rally in the Esplanada dos Ministérios area.

The now weekly protests also generally end with a few hundred people in front of the Planalto Palace. Bolsonaro is expected to attend, as usual.
