JBS's collaboration should be the target of a 'swift and thorough' investigation, says Lava Jato coordinator.

Prosecutor Carlos Fernando dos Santos Lima, one of the coordinators of Lava Jato, requested a "swift and thorough" investigation into the doubts surrounding the plea bargain with JBS; "The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office is still an institution respected by the population. It cannot fall into the common trap," he told journalist Josias de Souza's blog; "We fear that some clever interpreters, always very quick on the trigger, will use this type of situation to try to end the plea bargain agreements," he emphasized.

247 - Regional Federal Prosecutor Carlos Fernando dos Santos Lima, one of the coordinators of the task force, requested a "swift and thorough" investigation into the doubts that have arisen regarding the plea bargain of JBS executives. "The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office is still an institution respected by the population. It cannot fall into the common pit. We cannot allow them to throw the Public Prosecutor's Office into the common pit," Lima said in an interview with journalist Josias de Souza's blog.

Regarding the evidence surrounding the suspected actions of Marcello Miller, former prosecutor and former right-hand man of the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, to benefit the JBS whistleblowers, Lima stated that he should be "rigorously investigated." "We have to cut into our own flesh. Without any kind of corporatism," he added.

He also expressed concern about the moves made by the defense and allies of many of the accused to invalidate the content of the plea bargains and the evidence obtained through this mechanism. "We fear that some clever interpreters, always very quick on the trigger, will use this type of situation to try to end the collaboration agreements," he stressed.
