247 - The inspector general of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), Minister Luis Felipe Salomão, has opened an investigation to determine whether Judge Marcelo Bretas of the 7th Federal Criminal Court of Rio de Janeiro committed "disciplinary offenses" in his role as the magistrate responsible for the Lava Jato Operation cases in Rio de Janeiro.

According to the journalist's column Laura JardimAccording to O Globo, "the measure was taken based on information from the plea bargain of lawyer José Antônio Fichtner, which was shared with the CNJ (National Council of Justice) in September by Gilmar Mendes. It was also based on an inspection carried out last month by the CNJ."

In his testimony to the court, Fichtner recounts "evidence of practices of influence peddling and/or passive corruption" with Bretas and cites cases in which lawyer Nythalmar Filho allegedly used "influence peddling and privileged access" to the files of several cases that were under the magistrate's care.

“Solomão also ordered that Bretas be subpoenaed to testify by the end of this year,” the report concludes.
