Ciro Gomes attacks President Lula again in an attempt to draw attention.
Politician from Ceará struggles to cope with his own decline.
247 - Former governor of Ceará and presidential candidate in the last two elections, Ciro Gomes (PDT), once again launched direct criticisms against President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), demonstrating a poor understanding of his own decline. In an interview with CNN, Ciro stated that Lula should concentrate his efforts on Brazil and not seek international projection, suggesting that the former president abandon his pursuit of becoming a "foreign pop star" and dedicate himself to the country's internal problems.
When questioned about the possibility of a meeting with Lula, Ciro stated that he would have no problem talking to the former president, even going so far as to say that he would "talk even to Satan." Ciro Gomes' verbal aggression can be interpreted as a reflection of his own political frustration, since he failed to achieve the same popular support and recognition that Lula obtained throughout his career, receiving around 3% in the last elections.
