Ciro says he is not even considering, "mentally," supporting Lula in the second round.

"I have to have the mindset that it's my duty to be in the second round. So, I don't even mentally consider that possibility," Ciro stated in an interview with CNN.

247 - PDT presidential candidate Ciro Gomes said on Monday (5) that he is not “even mentally” considering supporting former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in a second round against Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

"I have to have the mindset that it's my duty to be in the runoff. So, I don't even mentally consider that possibility. Because, look, it's my job, and I'm the only one responsible for it now," Ciro said in an interview with CNN Brasil.

All polls indicate that Ciro has no chance of making it to the runoff, either against Lula or Bolsonaro. In the BTG/FSB telephone poll, Lula leads with 42%, while Bolsonaro has 34%. Ciro comes in third with 8%, technically tied with Simone Tebet, who has 6%.

At another point in the interview, Ciro attacked Lula again, accusing him of corruption and stated that the polarization between Lula and Bolsonaro is “dividing the Brazilian population” and that this would justify his decision not to ally himself with Lula.
