Ash from Chilean volcano cancels Brazil-Argentina-Brazil flights.

TAM has suspended four routes originating from Brazil and Uruguay; Gol also canceled flights this morning that were scheduled to arrive in Porto Alegre.

247 – The ash clouds from the Cordón Caulle volcano, which erupted in Chile last Saturday, the 4th, have begun to affect Brazilian air traffic. TAM issued an official statement informing of the cancellation of four flights departing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay, destined for São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Last night, the company canceled its flights departing from Guarulhos to these two cities. According to the international airport's website, other flights with routes including Lima, Peru, and Montevideo were also suspended. Gol canceled two flights: one originating from Córdoba, Argentina, destined for Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, which was scheduled to arrive at 7:30 am; and another from Buenos Aires arriving in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, arriving at 9:00 am today.

Until then, only flights from Argentina had been affected by the Chilean volcano – flights scheduled for Tuesday morning were canceled at Ezeiza and Aeroparque Jorge Newberry airports, including all flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas.
