247 - The Minister of Education, Cid Gomes, asked students who are having difficulties registering on the Student Financing Fund (Fies) website to remain calm. "Stay calm. There is no need for this panic," said the minister while participating in an event this Friday (27) in Pará.

"The FIES deadline is a long one, so there's no need to worry. It opened at the beginning of this week and will remain open until April 30th. You can rest assured. I personally visited the Ministry of Education's base where the computers are located; there were about 80 people there at the same time, at the same instant. This was at 21 PM on Wednesday," he emphasized.

On that occasion, Cid Gomes praised the qualities of the scoring system used by the ENEM (National High School Exam) for access to universities throughout the country. "The SISU (Unified Selection System) has become the main passport to higher education. There were 205 places in the first semester alone. PROUNI (University for All Program) offered 2013 opportunities through the ENEM. In the next edition of FIES (Student Financing Fund), we should consider the ENEM as the main passport, in addition to evaluating the quality of the courses offered," he stated.

The minister, however, does not rule out the possibility of promoting changes in the way the ENEM exam is conducted, which, in his words, is practically a "war operation" due to the costs and security required to carry out the exam. "What we want is to transform this into a structure using the internet, using computers, not just one day, at the same time," he considered.
