Rain prompts state of emergency in Rio Grande do Sul.

The cities of Lajeado, Encantado, and Tiradentes were affected; eight other municipalities are about to declare a state of emergency.

The cities of Lajeado, Encantado, and Tiradentes in Rio Grande do Sul have declared a state of emergency due to the rain, the state's Civil Defense reported today. The worst situation was observed in Encantado, where 1.780 people were displaced and 440 were left homeless. In the state, the most affected regions are in the Vale do Caí and Vale do Paranhana valleys, as well as the areas surrounding the Rio dos Sinos and Rio Gravataí rivers.

According to Civil Defense, eight other municipalities are also about to declare a state of emergency due to the damage caused by the rains. These cities are: Constantina, Pontão, Taquara, São Sebastião do Caí, São Jerônimo, Arvorzinha, Nova Bassano, and Parobé.
