Casagrande to Marcelinho Carioca: "This shirt represents freedom and democracy" (video)

"In 1979, Corinthians fans unfurled a banner saying 'amnesty' for political prisoners and exiles. In '82, '83, and even '85, that shirt was associated with Corinthians Democracy. That shirt represents freedom and democracy," recalled former player Walter Casagrande, referring to the meeting between Marcelinho Carioca and Jair Bolsonaro.

247 - Former player Walter Casagrande, one of the protagonists of the Corinthians Democracy movement, reacted to the video in which another former player... Marcelinho Carioca appears praising Jair Bolsonaro and wearing the club's shirt..

Casagrande stated that the jersey represents freedom and democracy and warned that no one can represent the club politically.

"I arrived at this club, Corinthians, in 1975. I started my life there, a Corinthians fan since I was a boy, I arrived to play in the youth teams and in the Corinthians youth categories. In 1979, the Corinthians fans unfurled a banner saying amnesty for political prisoners and political exiles. In '82, '83 and even '85, this shirt was from the Corinthians Democracy movement. This shirt represents freedom and democracy. No former player has the right to represent the club politically, and neither do I. This has always been a democracy," he said.

In a video posted on social media, Marcelinho appeared handing over the new Corinthians uniform to Bolsonaro and, subsequently, also showed support for the new Provisional Measure (MP) for football, signed in June.
