247 - The president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Rita Serrano, announced this Thursday (27) that the institution will charge former president Pedro Guimarães the R$ 10 million agreed. as compensation for collective moral damages resulting from practices of sexual and moral harassment tolerated during his tenure. The agreement was reached with the Labor Prosecutor's Office in the Federal District in a case opened at the request of prosecutor Paulo Neto, following allegations of harassment. Guimarães was dismissed after the accusations.
Serrano stated that Caixa will comply with the Labor Court's ruling to pay the compensation, but that it will file a lawsuit for damages against the former president, since he was responsible for the situation. The compensation amount will be donated to non-profit institutions, and the agreement was approved by the Labor Court.
The agreement concludes the case with respect to the bank, but the process of holding the former president individually accountable continues, under judicial secrecy. According to Serrano, it is fair that Guimarães reimburse Caixa for the amounts paid as a result of the harassment actions proven by the Ministry of Labor.
