Brazilian João Laranjo takes over as global CFO of Stellantis.

The executive is the first Brazilian to hold the top financial position at the automaker.

247 - Stellantis, the world's fourth largest automaker, announced on Monday (29) the appointment of João Laranjo as its new global financial director (CFO). The Brazilian executive immediately assumes the position, which until then was held by Doug Ostermann, who left the role for personal reasons.

De according to published information by the Brazil Stock GuideThe decision marks an unprecedented achievement: Laranjo is the first Brazilian to hold a top financial leadership position at Stellantis, in a field historically dominated by Americans, Italians, and French.

International career

Laranjo began his career in 2001 at General Electric. In 2009, he joined the then Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) as director of accounting for Latin America. Since then, he has followed an upward trajectory, working in the areas of controllership, results management and compliance, until reaching the position of CFO of FCA/Stellantis in North America in 2017.

In 2024, the executive took over the financial division of the Americas at Goodyear, but returned to Stellantis earlier this year, again as CFO of the North American operation. Now, he has been promoted to the company's top financial position, with a presence on the global leadership committee.

Recognition of leadership

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa highlighted the Brazilian's career within the automotive group. "Having worked closely with João for 15 years and witnessed his rise, I was constantly impressed by his excellent financial skills, results-oriented mindset, and deep understanding of the complexities of our industry," he stated.
