Brazil ended 2012 with more than 261 million mobile phone lines.

Subscriber base registers growth of 8,07%; operator Vivo leads the market, with a 29,08% share.

Brasilia - Last year, the country registered 19,54 million new mobile phone lines, representing an 8,07% growth in the subscriber base. Brazil ended 2012 with 261,78 million active mobile phone lines.

According to the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), teledensity in the country reached 132,78 accesses for every 100 inhabitants. Of the total active lines, 80,53% are prepaid and 19,47% are postpaid. 3G (mobile broadband) terminals totaled 59,19 million accesses.

The operator Vivo leads the market, with a 29,08% share, followed by TIM, with 26,87%, Claro, with 24,92%, Oi, with 18,81%, CTBC, with 0,28%, and Sercomtel, with 0,03%.
