Brazil warns it will not accept foreign interference in Venezuela.

Brazilian Defense Minister Raul Jungmann stated during an event in Rio de Janeiro that Brazil will not tolerate any interference from other powers in South America to resolve the Venezuelan crisis, in response to recent threats made by the US. Jungmann's statements were a firm signal of Brazil's stance regarding the approach of US President Donald Trump, who stated that he does not rule out the option of military intervention in Venezuela.

Sputnik - Brazilian Defense Minister Raul Jungmann said on Friday, during an event in Rio de Janeiro, that Brazil will not tolerate any kind of interference from other powers in South America to resolve the Venezuelan crisis, in response to recent threats made by the United States.

Jungmann's statements at the 14th International Security Conference at Fort Copacabana were a firm signal of Brazil's position regarding the approach of US President Donald Trump, who last month stated that he did not rule out the option of military intervention in Venezuela.

According to the minister, Brazil, which advocates a diplomatic solution to the Venezuelan crisis, simultaneously believes in the need to create a South American defense authority modeled after NATO, in order to allow countries in the region to resolve their problems without the intervention of external forces.

Regarding the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Jungmann criticized the way it has been operating around the world, carrying out actions in territories outside its original area of interest and without the proper backing from the UN.

"From a defensive alliance, the Euro-Atlantic organization tends to become a global entity acting in the prevention and management of crises in spaces that go beyond the jurisdiction of Europe and North America. In a territorially extensive interpretation of threats, sometimes without a mandate from the United Nations Security Council," he highlighted.
