Boulos sends a message to Trump: 'zero tolerance should be for xenophobia'

"The Trump administration arrested and separated 2 children from their parents in the name of a 'zero tolerance' policy toward immigration in the U.S. It's barbaric. Zero tolerance should be for fascism and xenophobia," said presidential candidate Guilherme Boulos (Psol).

247 - Guilherme Boulos, the PSOL party's pre-candidate for president of Brazil, strongly criticized the United States government under Donald Trump, which separated more than two thousand children from their parents who allegedly entered the country illegally.

"The Trump administration arrested and separated 2 children from their parents in the name of a 'zero tolerance' policy toward immigration in the U.S. It's barbaric. Zero tolerance should be for fascism and xenophobia," the presidential candidate wrote on his Twitter account.

The executive order signed on Wednesday (20) by US President Donald Trump to prevent family separation in cases of illegal immigration to the United States does not change the situation of approximately 2,3 children already separated from their parents detained at the border for illegal entry into the country. The measure will only apply to new cases.

Furthermore, the decree does not specify how the 20-day child detention period, as mandated by the Supreme Court in 1997, will be enforced. Trump's decision came after political allies questioned the separation.
