Firefighters identify first victim of tragedy on BR-376

The 62-year-old truck driver lived in São Francisco do Sul and was accustomed to traveling that stretch of road; another person also died in the landslide, but has not been identified.

247 - Truck driver João Maria Pires, 62, was the first victim identified in the landslide that hit BR-376 on the border between Santa Catarina and Paraná on Monday (28). The driver's body was found this Tuesday (29).

According to Metrópoles, the truck driver lived in São Francisco do Sul, on the northern coast of Santa Catarina. A relative of the victim said that the driver had always worked with trucks and was used to traveling that stretch of road. 

The landslide, at kilometer 669 in Guaratuba, swept away at least 15 cars and six trucks. According to rescue teams, so far...Two people died and six have already been rescued alive.
