247 - Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who last week met with President Vladimir Putin and strengthened diplomatic ties with Russia, announced on social media this Thursday, the 24th, that he is "fully committed to the effort to protect and assist Brazilians who are in Ukraine."

In the early hours of Thursday, several regions near Ukrainian cities were targeted by Russian bombings against military installations, in an action by Putin to contain the advance of Ukrainian troops in the east of the country, near the Russian border. The Brazilian government adopted a "balanced" stance, supporting a peaceful solution.

"Our Embassy in Kyiv remains open and ready to assist the approximately 500 Brazilian citizens living in Ukraine and all others who are there temporarily," Bolsonaro stated.

“Brazilian citizens in Ukrainian territory, particularly those in the east of the country and other conflict zones, are requested to maintain daily contact with the Brazilian government through our Embassy. Should they require assistance leaving Ukraine, they should follow the instructions of the Embassy's consular service and, in the case of residents in the east, travel to Kyiv as soon as security conditions permit. We also provide, for consular emergencies involving Brazilians in Ukraine and their families, the consular emergency hotline number +55 61 98260-0610. We will attend to all requests with total commitment and priority,” he continued.

In a press conference, the Secretary of Communication and Culture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Leonardo Gorgulho, stated that "the Brazilian embassies in Warsaw, Minsk, Bucharest, Bratislava, and Moscow are already on standby to receive any requests from Brazilians who need assistance after leaving Ukraine."
