Bolsonaro has lost all ability to govern, says the Arns Commission.

According to the Dom Paulo Evaristo Arns Human Rights Defense Commission, Jair Bolsonaro "has shown a notorious lack of concern for Brazilians, regarding the risk of the gatherings he encourages." "He has lost all conditions for the legitimate exercise of the Presidency of the Republic, due to his incompetence, authoritarian tendencies, and the threat he represents to democracy."

247 "The situation is serious. It's time to put an end to this misrule," write representatives of the Arns Commission – the Dom Paulo Evaristo Arns Commission for the Defense of Human Rights. According to the text, signed by José Carlos Dias, president of the organization, "in 2019 we witnessed the dismantling of state institutions and structures in the name of ideological alignments and culture wars."

"Starting last February, with the arrival of the pandemic in our territory, the great dismantling was compounded by attacks on the constitutional order, democracy, and the rule of law. These cannot be trivialized, much less normalized," they continue. The content of the text was published by journalist Ricardo Noblat in his column in Veja.

According to the statement, Jair Bolsonaro "has shown a notorious lack of concern for Brazilians, for the risk of the gatherings he encourages, for the premature return to work, for a health system that is collapsing before everyone's eyes, and even for the number of deaths from Covid-19, which today total many thousands of cases – about which, incidentally, he has already allowed himself to make crude and cruel ironic remarks."

"It only remains to emphasize what has already become evident: Jair Bolsonaro has lost all conditions for the legitimate exercise of the Presidency of the Republic, due to his incompetence, authoritarian tendencies, and the threat he represents to democracy. By sowing unrest, insecurity, misinformation, and, above all, by endangering the lives of Brazilians, his removal from office is imperative. The Arns Commission for the Defense of Human Rights understands that democratic forces must urgently seek ways to achieve this within the rule of law and in obedience to the Constitution."
