The Federal Police pointed out, in the new indictment of Jair Bolsonaro, that The former president transferred R$ 2 million to his wife, former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, one day before testifying in investigations into the actions of his son, federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, in favor of US sanctions against Brazil.

According to the Federal Police, the former president omitted the transfer. Bolsonaro had already publicly confirmed that he transferred another R$ 2 million to cover Eduardo's stay in the United States.

"It is worth noting that Jair Bolsonaro omitted information from the Federal Police in his testimony in INQ 4.995/DF that he had transferred other amounts to Eduardo Bolsonaro, in addition to the R$ 2 million. There was also no justification for transferring funds of the same value to Michelle Bolsonaro just one day before the interrogation," the report says.

Deliberate action

In the conclusion of the investigation, sent to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, the rapporteur of the case at the Supreme Federal Court (STF), the Federal Police indicate that Bolsonaro deliberately acted to support his son in promoting measures to block the progress of the criminal proceedings of the coup plot.

"The body of evidence gathered indicates, therefore, that former President Jair Bolsonaro acted deliberately, freely and consciously, from the beginning of 2025, and with greater emphasis in the months of May, June and July 2025 – when Eduardo Bolsonaro's actions abroad intensified – with the purpose of disposing of the financial resources he had in his immediate possession, as well as avoiding possible legal measures that would limit and/or prevent the consummation of the criminal intent of financially supporting the actions of the licensed parliamentarian abroad," concluded the Federal Police.

Foreign pressure

In May, the opening of an investigation by the Federal Police against Eduardo and Jair Bolsonaro was requested from the Supreme Court by the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR), Paulo Gonet, to investigate the alleged actions of the parliamentarian to incite the United States government to take measures against Moraes, who was chosen as the rapporteur for the case because he also acted in commanding the actions of the coup plot and the fake news inquiry.

In recent months, the United States government has announced a series of actions against Brazil and Brazilian authorities, including a 50% tariff on imports of US products, a trade investigation into Pix (Brazil's instant payment system), and financial sanctions against Minister Alexandre de Moraes. Magnitsky Act.

Eduardo requested a 122-day leave of absence from his parliamentary mandate in March and went to live in the United States, alleging political persecution. A request to revoke his mandate was sent by the Speaker of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicans) to the House Ethics Committee last Friday (16)., following representations presented by the PT and PSOL parties.
