Bolsonaro at the gates of the Alvorada Palace: "People are going to die" (VIDEO)
Jair Bolsonaro spoke to supporters and the press on Monday morning at the gates of the Alvorada Palace and stated that "people will die" (sic) because of the coronavirus, but that the economy cannot stop. He insisted on the theme of dictatorship: "chaos is fertile ground for opportunists to seize power and never leave it."
247 - In yet another of his pronouncements to supporters and the press at the gates of the Alvorada Palace, on the morning of this Monday (30), Jair Bolsonaro once again stated that the economy is a priority for his government, in the face of the coronavirus epidemic: “people are going to die” (sic). He insisted on the theme of the dictatorship: “chaos is fertile ground for opportunists to come to power and never leave it”.
Bolsonaro did not answer the journalist's questions about the possible signing of a decree ending the isolation measures in the country, which he had announced over the weekend. But, once again, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the governors' actions: "We have our own surveys, which may not be the most accurate, that show we have already reached the limit. I pray to God that I am wrong in what I am saying, but I will not shirk my responsibility in exchange for being treated well by you."
In defending the reactivation of the economy, he said that "below 40 years of age, when it is reached, less than 0.00 percent end in death."
He remained silent in the face of the various demonstrations by his supporters in favor of the Minister of Health, Henrique Mandetta, and did not mention the Minister's name. Bolsonaro avoided approaching people and once again attacked the press: “Yesterday I went to Ceilândia and Taguatinga. I didn't go for a stroll. A press that has no character couldn't act any other way. I went to see the people. You [journalists] are all huddled together here too. You are here to bring information, at least the healthy press, but also, if you don't come to work, you don't get paid.”
And he ended up producing a phrase about what the crisis management of his election opponent might be like if he were to come to power: “I am the target. If Bolsonaro leaves and Haddad enters, the problem would be solved… that’s not the way to go.”
