247 - A habitual interview avoidance, this time Jair Bolsonaro had no way to escape, and Fox News, a network associated with Donald Trump, was able to ask the Brazilian president its questions. The channel surprised everyone and didn't hold back on the "Trump of the tropics." In essence, it asked the questions that the independent Brazilian press has been asking for months. From the connection to the execution of Marielle Franco to the link with the militias, reporter Shannon Bream broke the protocol of inertia that the traditional Brazilian press maintains with the current presidency.

The report from the newspaper O Globo highlights that "the President Jair Bolsonaro discussed various aspects of his government in an interview with Fox News broadcast early Tuesday morning in Brazil, ranging from accusations of possible links to one of the accused in the assassination of councilwoman Marielle Franco (PSOL-RJ) to a video of a scatological scene he posted on Twitter after Carnival, and also touching on Venezuela and immigration in the US.

According to the article, which highlighted the exclusive interview conducted by journalist Shannon Bream, "Bolsonaro expressed his admiration for the occupant of the White House and supported his restrictive immigration policies, including the construction of the controversial wall on the border with Mexico, adopting the same rhetoric of demonizing immigrants as the Republican. Bolsonaro even stated that Trump's immigration policy is related to maintaining democracy in the Southern Hemisphere."

He said: "The vast majority of potential immigrants do not have good intentions, nor do they want what is best for or to do good for the American people," he stated. "I would very much like the U.S. to move forward with its current immigration policy, because to a large extent we owe our democracy in the Southern Hemisphere to the United States."

Amid his usual erratic and nonsensical statements, Bolsonaro spoke about the situation of international immigration: "a"It's fair to say that Americans who think [positively] about socialism should look to the experience of France, where the borders are open to receive refugees without any kind of selection or filtering," he stated. "And having open borders, in my view, is an absolutely bad idea. It's not a good decision at all. We agree with Trump's decision about the wall."

The newspaper O Globo reminds us what Bolsonaro forgot: "BBolsonaro ignored the fact that France approved a new immigration and asylum law in August 2018 under the initiative of President Emmanuel Macron, which tightens the process of obtaining asylum in the country. The new legislation makes it more difficult to pursue legal appeals and increases the detention period for illegal immigrants from 45 to up to 90 days.
