"Bolsonaro was laid out for viewing in broad daylight," says Marco Aurélio Carvalho of Prerogativas.
The pro-amnesty rally drew only 18 people.
247 - The president of the Prerogativas group, Marco Aurélio Carvalho, stated that the pro-amnesty demonstrations held this Sunday (16) show that former president Jair Bolsonaro is “increasingly isolated”. According to a survey by USP, the event held on Copacabana beach, in Rio de Janeiro, gathered around 18,3 people, contrary to the expectations of Bolsonaro and his allies, who expected 1 million people.
“The fascist rally was revealing. It showed the world an increasingly weak and isolated Bolsonaro. In a sparsely attended event, Bolsonaro and Malafaia once again offended common sense, the Supreme Court, and other institutions,” Carvalho stated.
The lawyer also criticized the governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicanos), who participated in the demonstration. “Tarcisio, along with other governors, is already vying for his boss's legacy, but, in a risky gamble, he has revealed himself to be a facet of the same coin. A candidate of a rabid and sectarian far-right, without a project that addresses the real interests of the country. He should have remained in São Paulo, where he faces monstrous challenges with the increase in violence and crime,” he said.
Finally, Carvalho states that the demonstration was a "funeral procession" for Bolsonaro, who is increasingly close to prison. "Amnesty is not and never will be capable of uniting Brazil. Holding the coup plotters accountable remains the best way to say 'Never again.' Today's demonstrations were a true funeral procession. Bolsonaro was laid to rest in broad daylight. And the 'guela,' as they say in the Northeast, is Tarcísio, who is already vying, in front of the coffin, for the deceased's legacy," he concluded.
