Bolsonaro chooses a friend from his clan to head Iphan, sparking outrage.

IPHAN (National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage) advisors are outraged by Jair Bolsonaro's appointment of a friend from his clan. 247 - The choice of Larissa Peixoto to head Iphan - the National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage - has angered members of the organization. The nominee is close to the presidential clan, married to Gerson Dutra Júnior, a Federal Police agent who served as Bolsonaro's security detail in 2018. Larissa and Gerson, known as Patropa, have a close relationship with Leo Índio, a cousin of President Jair Bolsonaro's sons.

Councilor Ulpiano Bezerra de Meneses, one of Brazil's most important museologists and a professor at the University of São Paulo, states that the expectation is that the person "masters fundamental concepts about 'material and immaterial goods'," according to the report. The appointment of Larissa Peixoto has been criticized by architects and historians, who claim that she lacks the training and qualifications to hold the position.
